Backpacking on North Manitou Island

The only sign of civilization on the island...27 acres which include the Ranger Station

Lake Manitou...located right in the geographic center of the island

One of the many trails we hiked...

The view from our campsite Saturday morning...gorgeous

A view from the west shore...no one for miles

Just a few hundered feet from our campsite...a coyote print on the beach

Another visitor to our campsite...a harmless garter snake.
One of the many abandoned buildings from the turn of the century...Swensons Barn
My friend Jim
A photo op at Fredrickson's place (yes, that's a Mets hat)
The cemetery at the southeast part of the island.
Most graves are from the late 1800's to the 1930

Perfectly clear night on Saturday night.

Sunrise Sunday morning, east shore of the island.

Our campsite Sunday morning. The sun made everything orange.
That's Lake Michigan beyond the trees.

North Manitou Island from the Ferry back to the mainland.
